Thirty Paintings In Thirty Days - Day 6

"Oh Oooooo  She's Found the Hair Dye"

Acrylics 12" x 12" on 2" Box Canvas

Had great fun with color doing this painting.

Was not my original intentions,  the brushes just took over, and I just followed along.

It was a good week with this challenge, trying at times, as I'm not in the groove yet, but, I can feel a good change in all this...

My goal this week, it to get all caught up and simplify my compositions somewhat.

Charlie Boy

Hi everyone, here's a New Speed Painting just finished, of this cute little guy named  "Charlie" from a weekend Challenge at WetCanvas.

I've been working lately on some speed painting, to get more spontaneity, in my paintings and lively brush/ pencil/ pastel strokes .

Don't want to think too much about the image, just do it..

So this is how I approached Charlie.

Used Water Color Pencils, on him, and a bit of white pastel at the end.- size 9 x 12..

Done in around 45 mins. which is quick for me. I just walked away then, didn't dare go back, or I'd still be working on him. LOL

You will probably see more of these Speed paintings in the weeks to come.  I really like them, and it's getting my Muse working again, and my strokes are looser.

Thanks for looking, comments and input welcome !!

"Too Hot"

Our temperatures, that is. We've been in a big heat wave for over 3 weeks now. It's been in the high 90's, low 100's with no wind, like opening the door of an oven when you go outside.
Wanted to show you what I got in an email this morning. Thought you might get a good laugh from it too.........
You know it's Hot in Canada, when Wildlife head to the (beach) NO - POOL!!!..................

Play Of Color "Bovine"Cow WIP

Something new, out of the box for me, a bit of whimsy, and a new series, are these cows that I've started. I like trying different styles and love colors, so here goes.

Started this a while ago from a weekend painting event at WetCanvas, I had just got the drawing done, and it was left at that, so this week was in the mood to finish it. The idea was to go outside the box, and not to use the common colors found with these animals, and to put a bit of whimsy into it.
This was fun to do actually, the first photo was at the start, just putting in some colors, not too much thought in them, just let my brush choose the colors.
The second photo is about the 2 hour mark, not sure on the background color yet.
Not finished, but getting there.
Pretty strong colors here, but I like him. LOL What do you think.???

This is Acrylics on 2 inch deep gallery 12x12 canvas.

Blocking in the colors, getting the general shapes and forms below.

"Amazing Artists"

This One Will Surprise You!!!!!

What wonderful Art from Exceptional Amazing Artists.
These Elephants have been rescued from abusive treatment in Burma, and now paint amazing Self Portraits. You'll be amazed at how the talent unfolds.
So touched by their horrific backgrounds and loving personalities, ExoticWorldGifts.com now supports, "Starving Elephant Artisans" by selling their paintings so they can continue to have a new life in Thailand.

I was so astounded watching this I just had to show it to you too.
Enjoy!!!!

Do Not Disturb......Cat !!

New painting today......

This is Nutty, he's not too pleased being disturbed during his nap LOL.

This was done from another weekend drawing and painting event at WetCanvas. Nutty is a cat owned by a friend of the event's Host . He looks just like my cat Keeta, so I was pleased to paint him. Acrylic on archival Canvas.

Hope you enjoy!!

"PEEK A BOO"

This painting is of "Poofy" a Persian Cat of one of the Hosts
on WetCanvas from a weekend drawing event (WDE-we call it)
The first pic is my initial painting. I had decided to have him hiding
under a scarf, but wanted to have some kind of outline for the scarf,
so I blocked in the body form first, then covered it!!
Very cliché I know....but I think its cute!!
So here's.....Peek A Boo Poofy.........heh heh
