Young Woman 2 Vine Charcoal Quick Drawing
Have been working with some Vine Charcoal drawings last couple of days
Thought I'd post them. These are quick drawings, quite rough, nothing fancy, or extra fixing done.
I often like to use ball point pens to do this , as you can't erase those and I like the challenge.....Of course like anything else, the more you do these, the more you learn and the better you get....
This one was done with charcoal and conte for the hair.......
Close up.........
Though hair not finished, or any work on features will be leaving these as is, my challenge was on doing these quickly, less than 10 min or so each.......
Both are drawn in my sketchbook size about 9x12"each.
This is how I do my sketching and drawing. For these quick one's I like to just leave them alone after the time is up. :) Thanks for looking, love to hear from you......

Sketchbook Vine Charcoal Graphite Drawing#6 - Young Woman
Hi everyone, I've been hanging out in the Portraiture forum at WetCanvas the last couple days, and came across one of their Challenges, this sketch is a result from one of their references. I just couldn't resist those eyes, they just drew me in.
Sorry, it's not a great photo, will get a better one, and still not finished with this study as yet, but wanted to post it, and see where it needs some work.
I've got some more poses of her I'm going to do.
This took about 45 min, quick go at her in my Sketchbook used mostly graphite and some Vine charcoal so far, about 9x12inches. I'm quite pleased with her. I just love that look in her eyes!!!!

NUDE BODY SHAPES LINES CONTRASTS Pt5
Well, I'm pleased, did some more work last night, so I'm adding these to my Body Shapes Lines Series. More work with vine charcoal and conte, playing with light. Will give them a couple days to digest then do some touch ups where needed. They show well in real life, not as dark as here. Would look good framed in Black. about ll x9 and 9 x 9.
Saturday
Girl Vine Charcoal Very Quick Sketch
Hi there, just a very quick crazy sketch to try get my muse back. Only 5 min with some vine willow charcoal. Just went at it. I see lots of touch ups needed, but I'm going to leave it as is. That's the whole idea. Added some red acrylics for her lips......... I've been dealing with artist block for the past while, have no idea why, but, have started some quick sketches, hoping it helps
Monday
Young Woman -Vine Charcoal Drawing
Hope everyone had a good weekend......I'm posting a new drawing I did participating in an artist event this weekend. Worked with Charcoal and some graphite on this lovely young lady named Faith. My idea was to use as few marks and lines as possible to convey her image in grey tones first, and then do a painting perhaps, later. Done on 11x9 card stock, which worked pretty good for charcoal. What do you think??
Friday
Sketchbook Vine Charcoal Drawing #3-Young Girl

Quick Study Sketch very rough, I played with last night. It's from a young girl riding on a merry go round, her hair flying. I centered it on her face, as I wanted to capture the movement, and her joy!!
May do a painting from this. I used charcoal and graphite, played around with some added markings and shading to give it a more abstract look. Not sure if I'm done yet, will have to look at it for a while. About 9 x 12in..... What do you think??
Sunday
Nude Body Shapes Lines Contrasts Pt3
NUDE BODY SHAPES, LINES, CONTRASTS pt 2
Above just adding some more Body Lines to a series I started way back in Apr and May 07.
Just felt like working with some Vine Charcoal. Working with different Ideas.
Think these would look good together say six or so in a line or a square.
Each is 11x8 on black pastel paper
Above is another nude drawing I also did Friday night . This one is done with graphite, much cleaner to work with, but hard to get the dark darks. But I'm pleased with it. Another painting to come, but with very dark contrasts and background as in the charcoal. Think it would good. Again from my sketchbook so size is 11x14. Had to photoshop it a bit to darken, as graphite does not show up well when scanned. I need a new camera. :) What do you think?
Saturday
NUDE BODY SHAPES, LINES, CONTRASTS
Was going to paint tonight, but somehow got into my sketch book, and did some experimenting with some willow vine charcoal, a study on minimal lines, and light. Sounds good huh, well, when it comes to willow vine charcoal and me, I make huge messes, all over everything. Tonight I now have a 4inch area on my light grey rug with squished charcoal, and dust all over my hands, and arms, and face, huge black marks everywhere......and I love it. I'll worry about the rug tomorrow.(Any suggestions how to get this stuff out??) Mine never turn out neat, and tidy like other artists, but I just love the feel of it, it's so light and airy to work with. 11x14. Going to do this with Acrylic, and see how it turns out in a larger size I think.
Thursday
"BAR BABES"
